Episode 04: California Chronic (Illness)

 

This week we are joined by Margot Reisner. Margot is a natural chef, environmental educator, permaculture designer, and potter living on Ohlone land in Northern California. She received her BA in Environmental Studies from Skidmore College and was certified as a Nutritional Chef at Bauman College. In addition to crafting functional ceramics, Margot works as a program associate at Insight Garden Program, a therapeutic gardening program for people in prison. Margot is passionate about intersectional environmental justice and anti-oppression work. Her work is focused on empowering communities by fostering meaningful connections to nature and her life mission is to act as a keystone species who improves ecological and community health with every action and every meal. 

In this episode we talk about feelings circles as sex ed, toxic masculinity, navigating chronic illness, the impacts of unrealistic beauty standards, why it can be hard to advocate for your own needs, the power of creating healthy communities for young people to grow, and more.
